REBELLION OF ŞEVVAF IN MUSUL
During Barzanis visit in Kerkük,insolences made by Kurds in the city caused their hostility to increase.So Barzani having bad moments was expelled with the supervision of police and military gendarm from the city.Kurd not liked by Turks had to cooperate with The Communist they were stuck in communist ideology.The first reaction against The communists in Iraq was made by Colonel Abdulvahab Şevvaf on 8 March 1959.Because of this rebellion started against Kasım, Musuls Garrison was bombarded with the order of the Baghdad Government.Owing to failure of these attacks,Communists began attacking nationalist with heavy weapons.During four days,there were bloody conflicts in Musul and Communists enforced a genocide cruelly.These actions made against Kasım were taken under control.Thousands of innocent people were killed.The People responsible for coup were judged and executed.Communist after controlling this rebellion in a bloody way contuniued to increase their insolances.Meanwhile the 2nd Division Commander General Nazım Tabakçalı who was an antı-communist was accused of supporting the coup.Consequently he was judged and executed.Davut el-Cenabi one of the communist officier was appointed to the 2nd Division Commander. After Davut el-Cenabi started his post the first issue published on 23 September 1958 in Kerkük,Beşir Journals publication staff was taken under pressure.26 th edition of Beşir Journal publishing in both Arabic and Turkish come out on 17 th March 1959,the same day Mehmet Hacı İzzet the writing director of the journal was arrested and sent into exhile.Also Habib Hürmüzlü owning the Newspaper was arrested and the next day he was sent into the exhile to Nasırıyye,300 km far from the south of Baghdad and was forced to live there.One day later,or rather on 18 March 1959 Av. Ata Terzibaşı the editor of Beşir Newspaper and a famous culture man of Baghdad.And Beşir Newspapers publication life was ended with the order of Military Management.
After that,communist managers were appointed to a higher rank,in Kerkük.Moreover,Maruf Berzenci educated in Moscow during long years was appointed to Kerkük as a Mayor. A communist named Ojin and having Armenian origin was appointed to the leadership of The People Resistance Organization in Kerkük. After a short time Turks were began to be arrested.Some Turk İntellectuals were sent to exhile.There was a great deal of pressure on Turk Society.Prisons were filled with Turks,even speaking Turkish was forbidden.Turks life and possession safety was put an end.Kurd Militants trained in Russia moved to Iraq and settled Kerkük Region where Turk people lived densily.That Kasım took over the power worried the neighbouring countries.This situation showed that Future of the Turks living in Iraq was doubtful and uncertain.Until 14 July 1959 Communists and Kurd Militants entering Kerkük were armed secretly.While The Proclamation of Republics 1st Anniversary were appraching,Kerküks situation was like that.On the other hand Turks were busy with making preparation for celebrity festival.
