TUMULTS AT POLLS
In 1947 Autumn, In Vice president elections made in Kerkuk,same important things happened. According to the information gained from the olds living that term, an open air meeting was hold in favor of the Turks candidate for Vıce president. Many students and citizen gathering in Musalla.Street change the meeting into a demanstration.By closing down their stores merchant supports the people marching.Thus March reaches from Musalla Street to Büyükbazar called carsı.People walking from there towards Taşköprü meet with the police in front of Buğday Square.When people see the barricades stormed by the police begin chanting in favor of Turk vice president nominees.When the police see the people dont disperse of people,this time begin to beat people with a nightstick whom joinedthe march.
Some of the demonstrators are injured and then people began to disperse,because of the violent intervention.In 1949 Turk citizens want to change the Governor and Mayor with the others having Turk origin.So thousands of students and merchant go on a demonstration.Although the police want to prevent the demonstrators again,theyve already given important massages to the Goverment in order to change the Mayor.Two months later Şamil Yakubi having Turk origin is elected as a new mayor.
