The appointments of the Khans, Kalgays and Nureddins were approved by the Ottoman Sultan. When the Crimean Khan ascended the throne, the ruler would sent him the materials that were the symbols of the sovereignty such as brevet, flag, two plumes, two robes of honour that were worn by only the Ottoman rulers and as a present of them, by the Crimean Khans, a sable canvas with golden buttons that was stitched on red velvet, two jewel ball crests over a headgear, dagger, sword, and two horses equipped with valuable sets. In the course of the arrivals and departures of the khans to Istanbul, magnificent ceremonies would be organised that had not been organised for any other king or prince.
There had been a relative relationship between the Crimean Khanate and the Ottoman Dynasty. Yavuz Sultan Selim's wife and Kanuni Suleyman's mother was the daughter of the Crimean Khan, Mengli Giray who was called as Hafsa Sultan that was famous with the works that she had had constructed such as the hospital in Manisa, the charitable establishment and the other works.
Since the establishment of the khanate, the population of the Crimea had remained around 1,5 millions. In those dates, the population of the principal European states was about several millions. The lack of the increase in the population of the Crimea resulted from the forced immigration of more than 1 million of Crimean Turks to Istanbul, Anatolia, Balkans and the Caucasus.
