Pursuant to the death of Suleymanshah, Ebu'l-Kasim that he had left as his representative in Iznik obstructed the dissolution of Turkey Seljuks State that was newly being established and he organised successful raids against the Byzantine. However, Emir Porsuk advanced towards Iznik and the Emperor Aleksios Komnenos proposed him an alliance. Upon these events, Ebu'l-Kasim went to Istanbul and he had to make an agreement with the Byzantine. Although Porsuk besieged Iznik, he foreclosed the blockade upon the reserve forces that were sent by the Byzantine emperor. In the course of the blockade that lasted for three months, Emir Porsuk could not capture the city. Upon this failure, Sultan Melikshah called him back and assigned Bozan, who was the emir of Urfa instead of him. Bozan besieged Iznik and started to organise some raids to its environs.

Due to the delicacy of the situations, Ebu'l-Kasim wanted help from Aleksios Komnenos. Aleksios had always tried to set the Turks at loggerheads through various intrigues. Therefore, he benefited from this opportunity and he did not give any answer to the demands for help forwarded by Ebu'l-Kasim. Ebu'l-Kasim who was helpless without any hope for escape went to Isfahan to apologise from Sultan Melikshah. When they turned away from him, he had to return to Anatolia again and he was caught and killed by the Emir Bozan. His brother, Ebu'l-Gazi who replaced him kept the state alive. Upon the death of Sultan Melikshah, there was a turmoil among his sons that were involved in a struggle for sultanate. Suleymanshah's son, Kilic Arslan came from Khorasan and ascended the throne in the capacity of the second ruler of Turkey Seljuk State in Iznik in the beginning of (1093).
