TURKEYS POLICY ON SYRIAN TURKS
Syria being south of Turkey is a state remaining an administration of Turkey for a long time. This state is a region which falls shore and influence of the French during sharing of Ottoman lands in conditions after the World War 1.The France mandate administration established in this region gave freedom to Syria in 1936 after preparing necessary stipulations.Although the region of Aleppo living Turks had been wanted to be taken in bounds of Misak-ı Milli during National struggle,afterwards this decision was quited as a result of done meeting with France.Even though Hatay in statu of autonomous was spoken joining to Syria when France gave freedom to Syria which was France mandate,Turkey hadnt given permission this.Hatay being a region which Turks lived densely had provided Hatay joining to the mother country after a series of diplomatic activities. As a result of this,Syria bore a grudge going on its effects against Turkey and Turks,even today and it supported any actions against Turkey.This enmity affected Turks livingin Syrias frontiers as well.Syria Turks have been forbidden to speak and write Turkish since 1936.They are deprived of any cultural justices and there under a big economical oppression.Besides, municipal permission allowing people to live in a new building isnt allowed Syria Turks,who are subjected to any of assimillation,especially as the regions in which are near Turk border and people living in these places have been emigrated to different places by force.
Except for Hatay,it isnt possible to mention the policy which has Turkey directed towards a tendency to Syria Turks during Republic Revolution.On the contrary,Syria was consisently giving any of supports against all of the activities which would damage from Asala and PKK to Turkey openly or in private before the terror activities on 12 September 1980.This Syrias attitude in a hostile manner and habit,which are in violation of international law and neighbourliness rights,will be more suitable to connect to antidemocratic regime,which even own public wearing of,and unchallengeable command management time to time.
