NURSULTAN NAZARBAYEV
Nursultan Nazarbayez, a statesman who was the most effective person in USSR following Mihail Gorbaçov and Boris Yeltsin, was born in Çemolgan village of Kazkalenski region in Kazakhstan. He began to work as a mine worker in a mine after his high school education. Afterwards, he went to Ukraine and received Metallurgy education. In 1960, he worked as a construction worker in Kazmetallurgstroy Trust in Temirtav town in Karaganainski region. Then he worked in Karaganda Iron-Steel Factory. He worked in the high furnace there as a metal worker, then as a master in gas plant and a chief master.
Nursultan Nazarbayev headed himself towards party studies as from 1969. He became the 1st Secretary of Komsomol Town Committee in Temirtav. Then he was elected as the 2nd Secretary of the supreme committe of this town in 1971. In 1973, he was appointed as Kombinası Party Secretary. In 1977, he was assigned as the 2nd Secretary of Party Local Supreme Committee.
Nursultan Nazarbayev became the MK Secretary of Kazakhstan Communist Party in 1979. In 1984, he chaired Kazakhstan Soviet Government Board of Ministers. In 1989, he was elected as the General Chairman of Kazakhstan Communist Party.
In April in 1990, he was elected as the President of Kazakhstan Republic. He had a master degree in economy field.
He is married with three daughters.
