Toktamis Khan had established the union again through the support of Lamed Tamburlaine. He also had defeated the Russians and Lithuanians that had rebelled. He had been grateful to the supports of the Tamburlaine in these successes of him. When he recovered and reinforced his situation, he wanted to get disconnected from Tamburlaine. Therefore, a conflict arose between them and it developed. The state of war was an inevitable event between Tamburlaine and Toktamis Khan. Finally, Tamburlaine won the Terek War that took place in the year of 1395 and he caused to collapse of the Golden Horde State that could not recover from that date on. He enthroned Kutluk Khan as the sovereign of the Golden Horde State and then, retreated. Toktamis ran away towards the west and took shelter in Lithuania. He returned upon the supports of the Lithuanian King, Witold and tried to recapture the throne; but he was defeated by Kutluk Khan. The Lithuanian army was totally defeated in a crushing manner.
When Kutluk Khan died in the year of 1401, Emir Edige Mirza enthroned Sadi Bey in his place. After a while, Sadi Bey who could not get along well with Edige Mirza was forced to leave the throne and run away. He was replaced by Pulat Bey. Edige Mirza who also defeated the Russians in the year of 1409 started to lose his power from that date on. He was defeated in a war that he fought with Toktamis' son, Kerim Berdi in the year of 1419 and he was killed.
Meanwhile, Lithuania recovered and collected his older forces and started to increase its pressure over the Golden Horde State. This led to the disintegration of the Golden Horde State. The state was divided into two sections in the period of the khanate of Ulug Bey in the year of 1437. As a result of this division, the Kazan Khanate was established in the north. Hajji Giray declared his khanate in the Crimea in the year of 1441.
The divisions and disintegration kept on. The Astrakhan Khanate was also established in the year of 1486. The Moscow Princedom that benefited from this turmoil got rid of the Turkish domination that had lasted for 300 years.
In the year of 1502, the Crimean Khan Mengli was submissive to the Ottoman State, but he could act freely in his country. He gradually increased his power and expanded his fields of domination.
The last khan of the Golden Horde State, Sheikh Ahmed was killed and upon his murder, this state was abolished thereof.
Pursuant to the abolition of the Golden Horde State, several khanates were established. However, these khanates could not substitute the Golden Horde State. The Golden Horde State has been one of the most significant states of both the Turkish world and the entire Eastern Europe and all these countries had remained under its affect in respect of policy, economy and culture.
