Tolun-Ogullari (875-905)
It is the first Muslim-Turk State that was founded in Egypt and Syria and connected to Abbasi caliphate. The founder of the state, Ahmed was a Turkish soldier. His father, Tulun (Tulun= is derived from dolun, in other words dolun ay in Turkish with the meaning of full moon) had been sent to Baghdad by the governor of Bokhara in 815*816. Ahmed was born in Baghdad in September 835. He had a good military and religious education and he completed his education in Tarsus. Afterwards, he won the approval of the Caliph Mustain due to his courage.
He was commissioned in the governorship of Egypt as the representative of his stepfather, Bayikbeg. When Ahmed reached to Fuslat on the date of 15th September 868, the foundation of Tuluni State took its start. Before him, there were some Turkish governors that were commissioned in the Egypt. The Turkish soldiers started to come to this region in the period of Muzahim b. Hakan that was considered among these governors and the Egypt became the second base of Turks following Samarra.
