Pursuant to the death of Sultan Muhammed, the Seljuk emirs were in conflict about the person to be enthroned as the sovereign. Melikshah set in motion in order to establish his dominion and he came from Huzistan to Isfahan. However, as a result of an arrangement by the Calip Muktefi who was afraid of his movement towards Baghdad, he was killed through poisoning (1160). On the other hand, Suleymanshah was set free in the city of Mosul where he had been arrested as prisoner pursuant to the death of Sultan Muhammed. He came to Hamedan and ascended the throne of Iraq Seljuks State. But his sultanate could only last for a few months. His addiction to alcohol and his impotence in state affairs led Suleymanshah to be deprived of the support of the emirs. He was killed in the year of 1161.
