The great wrestler with worldwide reputation. He was born at Karalar village of Şumnu in 1857. He started to quarrel with calves in the village when he was only a child, and then embarked upon wrestling wearing wrestler's tights. His reputation took first Deliorman and then Kırkpınar. He appeared as the greatest wrestler of Turkish wrestling.He won all of the wrestling contests he took part in Europe and America. He died in 1898 because the ship he got on turning back from America went into the sea. He does not even have a grave. Koca Yusuf is not only a summit in Turkish wrestling, but also a great summit of world wrestling. He was first known in arenas against famous Kel Aliço, who was one of the greatest wrestlers of our wrestling history and who did not leave the title of champion wrestler to anyone for 26 years. Kel Aliço, who expected to be the champion without any rival for the 27th time, encountered a youth named Deliormanli Yusuf who said "I will wrestle to the championship".
Everybody thought that the old hand of wrestling arenas would make this kiddy sorry for having ever challenged Kel Aliço. However, Deliormanli Yusuf was such a capable wrestler that Kel Aliço was also amazed, and did not refrain from revealing his cruelty, well known in wrestling world.
However, hours were turning the result in favor of Aliço. Moreover, the famous wrestler, who was not young any more, began to show signs of tiredness, endangering his situation. Nobody was willing to allow Aliço, champion wrestler of 26 years, be defeated against such a young wrestler losing his throne in wrestling world. When it got dark, those deeming this as an opportunity, wanted to put an end to the wrestling contest before one won. However, Aliço's voice stopped everyone:

Aliço's words touched Yusuf so much that he was not able to stop himself from shedding tears and took the hand of the great master and kissed, and then nearly begged with a touching voice: You, the master of masters, wrestler of wrestlers, my stouthearted aga! Aliço was also touched like the people constituting the crowd surrounding the open place. He was about to cry. He placed a warm kiss on Yusuf's forehead and said:
- This arena is yours from now on. I will leave here without looking back now that a wrestler like you arrived. Both the reward and the title of champion wrestler are yours. Own them happily. Both I give up to you my son.
And after that, the era of Koca Yusuf began in Turkish wrestling. No rivals were left to defeat this grand Turkish wrestler, who revealed as a incompatible power in arenas and was entitled as "Koca (Big)" because of not only his big body, but also his wrestling technique. Clever organizers deeming this as an opportunity, took him to Europe.
He won the wrestling contests in America, after Europe and lined up all of the famous wrestlers of the world. A millionaire woman fell in love with Koca Yusuf in America. She wanted to have a child from this powerful god. When Yusuf heard about that, he shouted: I did not come here to act stallion .
Koca Yusuf won 800 gold medals from his wrestling contests in Europe and America. While he was turning back to Turkey with the ship named La Buorgogne with French flag those medals in his belt, his ship crashed into Cromartyshre ship with Ireland flag because of fog in Atlantic Ocean. La Buorgogne went into the suddenly with its 721 passengers.
Now there was panic in the sea. The people spilled onto the sea, wanted to save their lives getting on a lifeboat. Koca Yusuf also held a lifeboat desperately. The people on the lifeboat feared that he may overturn the boat with his big body. They tried to hit first at his face and then his head with oars. However, this giant man was like locked on this lifeboat. The blood flowing from his head and face was getting down to his bushy mustache. The people on the lifeboat feared his condition. A brutal one on the lifeboat took the small axe used to cut robes and started to hit randomly to those steel claws passionately. The steel claws separated from the wrists loosened and his giant body was buried into the depths of Atlantic Ocean.
