Tuva people who were devoted to their own cultures and faiths lost various patriots as casualties of the communist system before the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The management was under the full domination of the communists at the end of 1930s and in 1940s and in the beginning of 1950s. In these periods, the nationalists were executed on the grounds of various allegations such as "advocates of the old system", "Japan collaborators", "informer", "advocate of the elite and spiritual leaders", "public enemy", etc. and they were sentenced to heavy imprisonments. Due to these heavy punishments, the nationalist thoughts and the movements for independence were suppressed relatively until the end of 1980s. But these opinions and movements got again on the stage in parallel to the developments observed in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. A meeting was organised in order to establish Tuf (Tuva'nın Ulusçu Frontuzu- Tuva's Nationalist Front) on the date of 12th October in 1989. The resolutions taken in this meeting are the arrangement of Tuf's program, the planning of its regulation and the organisation of its meeting of corporation. This meeting gathered on the date of 18th February 1990. Kaadır-ool Biçeldey was appointed as the chairman who would be elected as the member of parliament and then the chairman of the parliament in the elections to be carried out later. In the meeting carried out on the date of 18th January in 1992, Tuva's Nationalist Front changed its name as "Bot-doğunnaan Tıva'nın Ulusçu Namı= Independent Tuva's Nationalist Party" and Kalin-ool Küjüget was elected as the chairman. Among the Tuva nationalists that gathered around this party, the first ones to occur to the mind as the intellectuals that worked hard for the independency of Tuva are as follows: Sergey Bayır, İgor İrgit, Vaçeslav Salçak, Mergen Ayan-Ool, Andrey Şumov, Çısınmaa Bayındı, Segey Tumat.
Upon the resolution taken on the date of 11th March 1990, the "Tuva Language" was accepted as the official language of the Republic of Tuva. Pursuant to this date, the "Tuva Language" takes its place as the language for education and training in schools.
By the new constitution accepted in the year of 1993, Tuva people were granted with the right to get separated from Russian Federation and to exist as an independent republic. With the majority of population of 70% in Tuva, the development of Tuva people in the way to the independence seems to be much more dependent on the self-sufficiency in economic aspects.
