Baghdad Government, in spite of country’s serious depression and arises created by embargo, went on pressing on Turkey. In Iraq prisons, hundreds of Turks did time and lost their lives. Fatih Şakir Kazım, who was one of them, had stayed in prison for 15 years and passed away in 1990. Furthermore,Enver Mahmut Neftçi died, too On 7th January 1993. Apart from them, hundreds of Turks had been left in prison in extremely unhealthy conditions.

Baas Government executed three Turks in February 1993. Abbas Mehdi Rıza Bender, Isam Ömer Celil Sarıkahya and Hüseyin Safi Sultan was hanged although they were not guilty. On 21th April 1993 Tahsin Korkmaz, 24 years old, had been killed without any reason.
