Practices against the Human Rights

While the high-school graduates could enter the universities with their grades taken in graduation exams, Turkish students were robbed of their rights on this issue. Furthermore, the members of Baas Party and Arabic Student Union which was a wing of this party could enter any department they wanted even with very low points. Besides, Private universities were opened for their education. As a result, Although Turkish Students got high grades, they could not enter the departments as Medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and engineering even they had a right. Baas Government continued breaking of human rights without knowing them. All kinds of methods were tried in order to use against ethnic structure of places where Turks situated in the majority. Not only the districts of big countries but also the posts of a headman of villages were given Arabians. It did not change this practice although all villagers were Turkish. Arabians were encouraged to settle in the areas of Turks. The names of villages which were Turkish were translated into Arabic. The Government, which could not bear the name of Kerkük, too, changed the name of city in Turkey as “al-Tanzim” meaning nationalism in 1976.

For encouragement to settlement of Arabians in Kerkük, everybody, migrated there were being given 10.000 Iraq dinar , also 5.000 dinar for move expense, 10.000 dinar for buying a plot or building a construction. Thus, buying plot and buildings for Turks depended on permission of security. Real estate buyings and sellings of Turkish people were taken under control. Especially it was hindered buying and selling between Turkish to Turkish. But big facilities were supplied about selling property of a Turkish to an Arabian. Moreover, each Arabian, married to a Turkish girl, were given an award of 10.000 Dinar.

Baghdad Government, prohibited the people to chant Turkish sermon in mosques in Turkish districts, this time he began to take the religions under pressure. Religions, continued to give sermon and disobeyed to do that, were arrested and were tortured. In that way, the people that could not speak Arabic were restrained.
