Theodore Roosevelt that was elected as the state president of the United States of America in the year of 1901 had stated the following words before the election for presidency: The two powers that I would like to overwhelm first are Spain and the Ottoman State. When he uttered these words, Roosewelt had explained the cipher of the domination in the world. Actually, there were two powers that prevented the U.S.A. from becoming a superb power. Of these two powers, Spain hindered the domination in the Central and South America, in other words, the New World continents and the Ottoman State hindered the domination in the Old World continents (Asia, Africa, Europe). Therefore, they tried to abolish the Ottoman State through the missioner activities and the first steps for these activities were taken in the early year of 1871. Two missioners that were sent to the Ottoman countries were ordered with an instruction given to them on the date of 1st December 1833 as follows: Do not forget that you are soldiers that are involved in a war of conquest These holy and promised lands will be recaptured with an unarmed crusade expedition. And the result; the fadeout of a giant world state from the stage of the history Pursuant to the fadeout of the Ottoman State from the stage of the history, there were numerous bloody wars in the lands that had been under the domination of the Ottoman State and these wars are still continuing in these regions. On the other hand, the number of the countries on the former Ottoman lands is continuously increasing in every year.
There are totally 45 separate countries on the lands that were actually been under the Ottoman domination in the past. 27 of these countries are located in the Asian Ottoman Lands (Ottoman Asia), 13 of them are located in the European Ottoman Lands (Ottoman Europe) and 5 of them are located in the African Ottoman Lands (Ottoman Africa). The total surface area of all these countries extends to the area of 11.437.706 km2 and totally 373.957.000 people live in all these countries recently.
As a result of the relations through either the agreements or the donations forwarded by several means, the surface area of the lands that were under the influence of the Ottoman State extends to the area of 24 million km2. Considering the entire of these lands, there are more than 60 independent states over these lands nowadays. Furthermore, the influence of the Ottoman State had been dominant in the coastal regions or some of the lands of these countries even with the short-lived effects. Considering the political and economical potential of all these countries, it can be obviously observed that this influence has had a significant importance in the world platform today like in the past.
The total surface area of the countries that are located now on the lands that had been actually under the Ottoman domination in the past reaches to the figure of 11,4 million km2 and there are 373 millions of people living in these countries. In proportion with the general figures of the world, the aforesaid figures constitutes 8.5% of the total surface area of the world countries and 6.5% of the total population of the world countries. Upon the transfer of the post of caliphate to the Ottoman State together with Yavuz Sultan Selim and a result of the agreements concluded with some of the states, the figures about the surface area and population of these lands increased a lot. In one respect, the surface area of todays countries that are located on the lands that had been under the domination of the Ottoman State corresponds to nearly 38% of the surface area of the entire world and the population of the relevant countries corresponds to 40% of the world population nowadays. In addition to these rates, the surface areas and populations of the countries such as Italy, England, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, France, Monaco, Germany, Ireland, Gibraltar, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Iran, Denmark, etc. that the Ottoman State had influence through the victories and the agreements that it had won and concluded as a result of the wars that took place on various dates in the history should be taken into consideration. Accordingly, taking into consideration the surface areas and populations of the aforesaid countries, it can be stated that Ottoman State had established domination over more than half of the world lands and world population of today. Furthermore, we should consider that the New World continents such as America and Australia were not known by the Europeans yet and these continents had rather little population in those periods. Taking this situation into consideration, it can be understood that the Ottoman State had established dominion over nearly 90% of the world population in that period. As it can be understood from these figures, the Ottoman State was the only state that had established dominion in the most extensive and far-reaching lands and the most crowded population in the course of the history. The term period and regions of the Ottoman Turkish domination have not been yet reached even in the dominations of today like in the past before the Ottoman State.
Considering the political map of the world, it is significant that there are various states with small figures of surface areas over the Ottoman map and particularly in the Balkans, the Caucasus and the petroleum regions of the Arabian Peninsula. It can be clearly observed that the geopolitical situation and the economic potential of the region had played an important role in the course of the division of Ottoman map into shares. Similarly, the benefits and interests of the superb overwhelming powers of the period were privileged in these shares. However, there have not been a state of peace and comfort established within the regions shown on this predetermined map in the course of the last century due to the conflicts of interests. There are still hot-tempered struggles in each point of this map. The entire Balkans, Palestine, the Persian Gulf, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, and the Caucasus constitute the regions of the most cruel local wars that take place all over the world. Considering their recent situations, all of these regions are awaiting a new saviour, a new Ottoman. Table 1.
