Timur Empire
The great conqueror would organise his last military expedition towards China. He set off in the winter of the year of 1404 when everywhere was covered with snow. He perceived that he was near to his end of lifetime; and he believed that he would not be delayed for his greatest conquest. When he came to the city of Otrat in the border of China, he stopped. He organised a great parade for his army in this place. He also arranged for the hunting of swans. However, Tamburlaine became ill, and he took to his bed. The chief doctor, Fazlullah clearly declared that he was on his deathbed. Upon this, Tamburlaine prepared his testament. He called his celebrities and his grandsons to him and he gave a speech in his deathbed:
The Words uttered by Tamburlaine in his Deathbed: Tamburlaine had said the following statements in his Deathbed:
My Sons,
Read the testament and regulations that I have left for you in order to establish the welfare and happiness of the nation. Do not ever forget to apply them.
The resolution of the problems within the nation is on the account of you. Protect the weak, and do not leave the poor under the oppression of the rich. Let "justice and kindness" be your principle and guide. If you want to establish a long sultanate like me, think twice before drawing your swords. When you draw your sword, use it with great mastery. Beware of those who want to bring discord among you. Some of your boom companions and enemies will try to bring discord to you and to benefit from it. However, I have shown you the administrative styles and the main principles in my testament. If you act in compliance with them, you won2t be dethroned.
Do not forget the words of your father in deathbed.
Pursuant to me, the khan Pir Muhammed will become the Conqueror. You will obey to him like you obeyed to me. My Commanders, now, take the oath of fidelity! (And all of the commanders and the people of palace took the oath while crying).
Tamburlaine died on the date of 19th March 1405. His last words were "Lailahe illallah".
His corpse was mummified and then, they took it to Samarkand. He was buried into the mausoleum that he had had constructed for his beloved grandson, Muhammed Sultan next to his grandson.
