The capital of the country is the Red City founded in the year of 1914 with its first name of Hem Beldiri (the place in which two rivers run into). The population of the Red is over 70 thousands. There is not any centre of population that can be accepted as a city apart from the capital. Among the big districts, the followings can be mentioned: Erzin and Samagaltay in the Sourh; Turan, Toora-Hem in the North; Çadana, Şagaanarıg, Kizil-Majalık, and Ak-Dovurak in the West; and Kaa-Hem in the Centre. The centres of population are much denser in the central and western regions of the country. The country is divided into 17 regions (sections).
