The administrative authority with the highest rank is the President in Gagavuz's Place. As per the Article 6 of the Law, the administration of Gagavuz's Place has the possession of all resources produced under and over the ground. Gagavuz's Place has its own flag that is used next to the flag of the Republic of Moldavia. The administration of Gagavuz's Place has been granted with the right to issue laws providing not to be in contradiction with the Moldavian Constitution and laws.
Political Structure
According to the Special Law, Gagavuz's Place is an autonomous region within the structure of the territorial integrity of Moldavia. They are influential in their own parliament and the regional administration.
Economy
The economy of the region is based on agriculture and the arable fields of the region are 148 hectares. There are 12 vine plants that process 400.000 tonnes of grapes annually, 1 unit of meat combine, 2 units of oil factories, 1 unit of tobacco factory, 1 factory of minting and 2 units of carpet plants. Gagavuz people who are well known all over the world in respect of winemaking cultivate cereals, legume family and vegetables-fruits.
Education- Training
Today, those who are old and illiterate can only speak Turkish. As a result of the forced education of Russian language in the schools in the period of Soviet Union, Gagavuz people had to be bilingual. The group that has the highest Russian-speaking rate as a second language is the Gagavuz people among the nations living in Moldavia. It has been started to give education in Latin alphabet and Gagavuz language in the schools gradually. The principal newspapers that are published in Gagavuz language is Ana Sözü (Mother's Word) and Gagavuz Sesi (Voice of Gagavuz). Furthermore, a magazine titled as Yıldız (Star) has also been published.
Relations with Turkey
In the period when Hamdullah Suphi Tanrıöver was the Bucharest Ambassador of the Turkish Republic (1931-1944), Gagavuz people were put on the agenda of Turkey. In this period, Turkish courses was opened in Gagavuz's Place and Turkish books were sent to the region. On the other hand, some of Gagavuz people were selected and then provided with the opportunity of higher education in Turkey. Upon the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Gagavuz people were again put on the agenda of Turkey. The relations that were broken off for a long time are attached great importance nowadays. Turkey has accomplished several programs and projects for Gagavuz people in the nature of help and support. Most of the activities were based on education. Furthermore, humanitarian help and health equipment were sent to the region and Turkish summer courses were organised for Gagavuz students and teachers in Turkey with specific periods. The infrastructure studies have been initiated for the appointment of instructors from Turkey to Komrat State University in Gagavuz's Place. Additionally, numerous books were sent to the university and material assistance has also been provided. The relationship of friend schools was established among the primary schools in Bursa and the city of Çadır-Lunga.
